“Beyond the Classroom”: Social Activities Planned for Area Youth | Community

In an effort to provide more planned activities for children this year, the Simmons Center will be offering classes titled “Beyond the Classroom” starting Oct. 6.

“Beyond the Classroom” will include social activities and life skills learning for children participating in home or distance learning this school year.

Classes will take place from 10am to 11.30am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and are available for all students aged 5 to 15 years old.

According to a statement, depending on the number of different ages, there may be a different timing for older children.

The daily cost is $7 for members and $10 for non-members. The weekly cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. There is also a monthly option at $55 for members and $95 for non-members.

These classes will offer activities such as sports, physical education, swimming and water safety, as well as life skills such as how to change a tire, how to prepare a meal from scratch, CPR and first aid , professional skills, emotional skills and more. .

On Tuesdays, students will learn life skills with Lori. On Wednesdays, students will learn the pleasures of water with Noni. On Thursdays, students will learn sports and physical education with Dalton.

According to a statement, Beyond the Classroom will adhere to social distancing guidelines with small groups and temperatures taken daily.
