Department of Social Development issues circular regarding treatment of charitable donations

Ammon news – The Department of Social Development on Sunday issued a circular for charities in the Kingdom, stressing the need to pledge to collect donations in accordance with Regulation No.1 of 1957, Jordanian news agency Petra reported.

The regulations state that charities must include all details related to approved charity campaigns, such as their number, date, duration, campaign scope and means of collecting donations, Petra reported, adding that all Receipts must be stamped and signed by the Department of Social Development.

The circular was issued amid complaints about the conduct of fundraising campaigns based on false allegations with false receipts, according to Petra. The ministry added that the circular intervened in a regulatory context, with the aim of organizing these campaigns and increasing their credibility with the local community.
