Generation Amazing, QFSW to promote inclusion and social development

Doha: The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 legacy project, Generation Amazing, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) to deliver new football programs for development and of life skills in Qatar.

QFSW was founded in 2013 as a private institution for the benefit of the public to govern and regulate various civil initiatives in Qatar. Her work focuses on the human and social development of Qatari society in various areas, including family stability, care of orphans, protection of women and children, youth empowerment, care and rehabilitation of disabled and elderly care, in addition to promoting behavioral health.

QFSW and Generation Amazing will deliver a range of programs and events in Qatar to promote social and human inclusion and development for beneficiaries across the country. The partnership will contribute to human development within the framework of Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and raise awareness for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society.

Established in 2010 during Qatar’s successful bid for the FIFA World Cup, Generation Amazing uses football for development initiatives to teach social and life skills in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“Partnering with QFSW provides strong alignment with the overall vision and mission of both organizations,” said HE Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.

“We will work together on programs that support the development of social and emotional skills in safe and supportive environments, enabling Generation Amazing and QFSW centers to reach people in Qatar and promote essential life skills and values ​​in through football.”

Generation Amazing will work closely with different centers under the QFSW umbrella, namely Nama, Shafallah, Wifaq, Dreama, Ehsan, Aman, Alnoor and BHC, to target children with autism, learning disabilities, visually impaired, deaf and children and orphans. with physical disabilities and other disabilities. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to volunteer at events such as the Generation Amazing Festival and take part in youth leadership programs and workshops. Training for the program will take place at the brand new Generation Amazing Community Club in Lusail.

Going forward, the program plans to build the capacity of coaches to deliver ability-appropriate Football for Development activities, and contextualize them to enhance the beneficiary experience and deliver sessions that would enhance their skills.
