Ranchi Police are on high alert with the upcoming Durga Puja and have called on people not to pay attention to rumours. The city police also released a WhatsApp number urging people to call in case of anti-social activities during the puja. Ranchi SSP Kishore Kaushal issued the new directive after a youth from Sankat Mochan Mandir was arrested on the main road for vandalizing the idol of Lord Hanuman. To manage the social media of the Ranchi Police, the duty of five police officers in three consecutive shifts was placed in the control room. These police officers read the information that comes in on WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook and pass it on to their superior officers. SSP Kishor Kaushal assured people that Ranchi Police would take immediate action on all their information.

Tension reigned in the area after an idol of Lord Hanuman was reportedly vandalized by anti-social elements in Ranchi on Wednesday. The idol of the Hindu deity was kept inside a Hanuman temple located on the main road in Ranchi. However, the police succeeded as the youngster was arrested on Wednesday morning.
