CONTINUED SIGNING OF FUNDING AGREEMENTS FOR THE PAYMENT OF $200,000 TO THE DISTRICT COUNCIL COMMITTEE.
The official signing of funding agreements between the government and the district councils continued today at Hall Tooa Salamasina. To facilitate the disbursement of $200,000 for 14 additional district councils to support the;
- Creation of district councils
- Establishment of district council offices
- Recruitment of staff for the project
The Director General of the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, Dr Mema Motusaga reminded the committees present today of the importance of this initiative for the residents of the respective districts of Samoa, but also the need to submit discharge reports for the use of the fund by July 31, 2022. The District Council initiative aims to improve sustainable development in communities in the district to achieve better livelihoods and socio-economic outcomes for the benefit of vulnerable groups and the overall development of the district. Through the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, the government’s vision is for communities to proactively lead the implementation of sustainable development initiatives relevant to their community priorities.
