Social Development Program Officer – 6 month contract

Is it you?
You have experience implementing, monitoring and evaluating social development programs and related grant projects and are comfortable traveling when needed.

You have excellent English communication skills and are flexible, adaptable to change and eager to make a difference.

what you gonna do
You will be responsible for stakeholder engagement at the local level in various areas. This includes coordinating and monitoring performance and reputation management activities. You will collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for program and grant development related to social development, coordinate consultation among all partners, and ensure ongoing feedback and reporting among partners.
Areas of intervention covered by this role include, but are not limited to: care for vulnerable people (including children, the elderly and people at risk of gender-based violence), nutrition initiatives, school health and assistive devices for people with disabilities. This list may change from time to time as the Trusts deem appropriate.
where you gonna do it
You will be based in the Claremont office but there will be travel to Jeffrey’s Bay, Kimberely, De Aar and Johannesburg.

What you will need
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a degree in social/political science, but if you have experience in this role, we would love to hear from you! Extremely important are excellent communication skills in English (spoken, read and written) and a bonus is another language such as Afrikaans, Isixhosa, Sotho or Tswana.

You will have strong conflict resolution and community engagement skills, strong attention to detail, be action-oriented, tenacious and diplomatic with a well-developed ability to persuade others.
You will definitely need a driver’s license, preferably someone with their own car and proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
