The passage of the long-awaited Social Welfare Bill by the Zamfara State Legislative Assembly was described as “commendable”.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Fa’ika M. Ahmed, said this while reacting to the passage of the bill by the House led by Speaker, Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya. .

Hajiya Ahmed said the extensive legislative processes conducted before the bill was passed showed the House was willing to complement Governor Bello Muhammad’s passion and efforts “to cushion the plight of vulnerable people across the state.”
She said the social protection programs were multi-sectoral, involving all MDAs in the social sector, coordinated by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Hajiya Ahmed further appreciated the participation and support of Save the Children International, other partners and organizations “who have supported all state social protection programs.”
